When you die, (Inna lillaahi wa inna ilayhi Raaji’oon) will you be more beautiful than the hoor al-ayn and a queen in your kingdom in jannah? Or will you be among the women inhabiting jahannam? Now think of the reasons why you answered the aforementioned question the way you did and ask yourself, “What did I do today to please Allah swt and get closer to jannah and further from jahannam?” There are many things we can do to increase our taqwa, eeman and deen inshaAllah to tip the scales in our favour on the day of judgement… here are a few:
-recite the Qur’an… and understand it. Find good tafseer and really know what you are reading inshaAllah.
-remember Allah subhana wa tala, make dhikr. The more we remember him the more he will remember us.
O ye who believe, remember Allah much. And glorify Him morning and evening (33:42-43) A couple to get you started are SubhanAllahi wa biHamdihi 99x and another is saying subhanAllah 33x, Alhamdulillah 33x and Allahu akbar 34x.
-keep yourself occupied with performing good deeds inshaAllah.
-keep good company, spend time with other sisters who are have the qualities of humility, charity, compassion, modesty and knowledge.
-learn religious knowledge: all of us, young or old, should at least acquire sufficient knowledge to enable ourselves to understand the essence of the teachings of the Qur’an and the purpose for which it has been sent down.
-always be aware of things which may divert you from Allah swt.
-be humble: humbleness is that your deed should not become too great in your eyes. If you do a good deed, or attempt to get closer to Allah ta`ala through an act of obedience, your deed may still not be accepted, “Allah only accepts from those who have taqwa (fear of Allah).” (Surat al-Maida: 27)
-remember death and that it may happen anytime without warning.
-focus on the main purpose of life:worshipping Allah swt.
