In these calendars sisters you can put sadaqah money they can give at taraweeh salah… money for you son or daughter, daily activities (i.e a small craft), hadith, soorah to memorize, chocolates… the possibilities are endless mashaAllah…. Im making the first calendar (the one that reads  Muhammad) for my children, one for each of my sons and one for my daughter inshaAllah…

My best advice for you my sister?…Teach them Al-Fatiah

Sisters, teach your daughters and your sons Soorah Al Fatiah before someone else does… they will use this soorah in every prayer 17 times a day, 119 times a week, 476 times a month and 5712 times a year…. and you will be rewarded for it, inshaAllah each and every time. This is one way to tip the scales on the day of judgment in your favour!

Apologies to my sisters….

Asalaamu alaikum everyone. My sincere apologies for the lack of posts. Things have been really busy medically wise with my daughter. We have had too many appointments mashaAllah… a vocal cord surgery coming up, and on this past ultrasound, the radiologist thinks her cancer may have returned so her file and report was sent to her oncologist in London Elhamdulillah. So I hope you all can forgive me for the lack of posts.

On another note, my oldest son as been really into the sciences this year so we are doing all the chemistry and solar experiments and models we can find… we just finished growing crystals and making a miniature solar car. With my daughter we have been working with her on her social studies… that being her MinSpeak speech device… my youngest, well, hes been coming out with new words everyday mashaAllah and hes learning ASL from his sister. Time goes by so fast subhanAllah.

images (4)Fatemah’s Minspeak is very similar to this one. Depending on the icon she hits on the screen, it opens up other menus and lets her create sentences. A preprogrammed female voice will say what is written on the screen either in English or Arabic. Total cost (not from our pocket Alhamdulillah, its covered through the Assisted Devices Program….) was $11,945.00. SubhanAllah.

I want to purchase a better one in the future though inshaAllah as this is not very sturdy etc. This is a once in a lifetime good science find from our local discount store. Total cost was $3.00.

MashaAllah the things we dont know about our children…

My son came home from Islamic day camp today and aside from his normal Quran and Islamic studies classes, he told me he also had cooking class, where he made Yemeni samosas! MashAllah, I underestimate him sometimes I think, but he always does what he sets his mind too. Looks like I am going to have a helper for iftar this year inshaAllah…

private school

Asalaamu alaikum sisters,
My son will be starting at an islamic private school on Tuesday inshaAllah, as I, too, am going back to school myself for Pre Health Sciences alhamdulillah (and eventually med school inshaAllah). I will still be doing homeschooling projects with him at home and on the weekends (and occasions like ‘Ids and Hajj) so whenever I do, I will be posting those inshaAllah.

they are growing alhamdulillah

Alhamdulillah our plants are growing well, here is a photo of them. We keep placing them in the sun during the day, bringing them in at night and watering them. Our outdoor garden has not yet sprouted but here are the pictures.

update: here are the bean plants from ds’s inside pots as of May 1, 2011

alhamdulillah, for sprouts

salaam alaikum
Honestly, I didnt expect the beans to sprout too quickly, and the ones in the soil have not as of yesterday, but the ones we placed in the paper towel/bag have alhamdulillah! So we spoke about the different environments each are in, the bounty and the will of Allah subhana wa t’ala, and we cracked a couple open to see how they were sprouting. It is a blessing subhanAllah that plants can grow without soil. Here is a photo…
